Corporate Social Responsibility

At the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, we recognise the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a fundamental aspect of our operations. 

  • Automatic Disclosure Policy & Guidance

    This policy outlines the process relating to documents which fall to be disclosed to the public (which includes the press) automatically during the course of asubstantive hearing without the need for a request or an application. It applies to cases certified as showing a case to answer from 15 January 2025.

    This policy concerns the approach that the Tribunal will adopt in the event of a request by a non-party for the supply of documents which are held by the Tribunal pursuant to its statutory function under the Solicitors Act 1974 to hear and determine applications made to it under that Act.


  • Explanatory Note to Standard Directions and Glossary

    When the Tribunal issues proceedings it provides instructions to the parties on how they are to prepare the case. These instructions are known as “Standard Directions” [Rule 20 SDPR 2019].     As a service to the public and the profession, the Tribunal publishes Judgments on our website unless the Division of the Tribunal which determined a specific case directs otherwise. This policy sets out our principles and approach to publishing judgments.

    This policy sets out the policy to be followed by the SDT regarding the sending of its orders and findings to The Law Society (TLS) under the Act at the conclusion of a substantive hearing.
