Statement from the President and Chief Clerk of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal

We accept the High Court’s findings in SRA v Hurst and have begun a careful review of Mrs Justice Collins Rice’s observations. Ensuring that we learn from judicial scrutiny is central to maintaining confidence in our processes.

Yesterday, our internal Case Assurance Committee commenced a structured, peer‑level examination of the judgment. This forms part of our commitment to continuous improvement and to safeguarding the integrity of our decision-making framework.

The Tribunal is united in our commitment to ensure that allegations are assessed fairly, and that all judgments and sanctions are delivered impartially. Our Tribunal panels comprise both solicitors and lay members, enabling a balanced and informed evaluation of the evidence presented.

Together we will continue to oversee this work and ensure that the lessons from this judgment are fully reflected in our future practice.
