Timothy Dutton CBE KC

The Tribunal is saddened to hear of the passing of Timothy Dutton CBE, KC who, over the years, appeared in many significant cases at the Tribunal. He was known to us as a principled and tough advocate, and one rightly regarded as the “doyen of regulatory law.”

It was evident he viewed with disdain the cruel disease which afflicted him, and he continued to work as a barrister, conducting many well-publicised trials and appearing in the Supreme Court on at least four occasions following his diagnosis in 2014. He lived up to his motto “treat every day as if it were the last.”  He was a courageous man.

His remarkable intelligence, warmth, wry humour, and friendship will be missed but never forgotten and our thoughts are with his family.
