The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Strengthens Leadership Team

New Chief Clerk and COO appointments to support The SDT’s strategic direction

The Board is pleased to announce an update to the Tribunal’s leadership structure that reinforces our commitment to clearer oversight and stability, supporting our strategic direction for the next five years.

Ray Dhanowa has been confirmed as Clerk to the Tribunal on a permanent basis. Ray qualified as a solicitor in 1997, building his career in criminal law and human rights before progressing to Senior Lawyer at the Criminal Appeal Office. He joined the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal in 2019 and has been acting as interim Clerk for the past year.

Emma Tully has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer. With 12 years at the SDT, most recently as Head of Operations, and over 20 years’ experience in legal services, Emma brings deep operational expertise and a strong alignment with our mission and values.

Alison Kellett, President and Chair of the Board commented: “These appointments mark the Tribunal’s commitment to strengthening its leadership capacity, ensuring greater accountability, and providing a solid foundation for future growth and effectiveness. Our employees, members, and board are aligned in a shared commitment to uphold fairness, transparency, and integrity as the foundation of all that we do.
