SDT Responds To LSB Consultation

The draft Business Plan sets out the LSB’s strategic direction for 2016/17, with the focus very much on innovation. Whilst maintaining its independent, impartial and transparent position, the Tribunal considered it important to engage with the LSB’s business planning process by making its Members’ views known. The Tribunal’s President, Ed Nally, observed as follows:

“In responding to such Consultations, the Tribunal focuses on its own role in the context of the specific consultation. The Tribunal will be authoritative in its responses, and scrupulous in remaining independent and impartial in its comments. In short, the SDT is a judicial tribunal first and last, and will not be adopting political positions or criticising policy pronouncements from other Regulatory Bodies. The Tribunal will not second guess, but neither will it be shy in responding appropriately if its opinion is sought.”
