SDT Solicitor Member Vice President

Alison Banks has been elected SDT Solicitor Member Vice President by the Tribunal membership, with immediate effect. Alison will serve a term of three years commencing on 13 May 2015 and ending at midnight on 12 May 2018. She will also become a member of the Tribunal’s Policy Committee and an SDTAL Director for the currency of her term of office as Vice President.

Alison was appointed to the SDT in 2006, which she describes as being “one of the highlights” of her career. She is a practising criminal lawyer with a prominent firm in Hartlepool, is currently a Duty Solicitor, and has been a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy since 2010.

The President of the Tribunal, Andrew Spooner, commented: “We are very fortunate to have had three excellent candidates to choose from in this election and I would like to pay tribute to and thank the candidates, and to congratulate Alison on her appointment.  There are exciting opportunities for the SDT ahead and I look forward to working with Alison and the rest of the Board / Policy Committee over the coming months.”

Alison described herself as “delighted” to have been elected by the SDT membership and to have been “given the opportunity to contribute to such a prestigious professional body and the legal profession.”
